So far so good for the three New Zealanders in qualifying for this weekend's prestigious British Open Squash Championships in Manchester.
Kashif Shuja, Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight are all safely through to the qualifying finals, although Grayson and Knight survived by the skin of their teeth.
Shuja has little trouble in disposing of Englishman Adam Murrills, winning 11-5, 11-4, 11-8 in 27 minutes, and will now face Pakistan's Mansoor Zaman for a place in the main draw.
However, Knight had to fight back from two games down against England's Eddie Charlton, and 4-1 down in the third, before escaping with a 6-11, 5-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-5 victory in exactly an hour. Not to be outdone, fellow kiwi Campbell Grayson also fought back from two games down, and played an extra eight minutes for good measure, as he racked up a 3-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 triumph over England's Tom Pashley in 68 minutes.
Knight will face Italy's Amr Swelim in the qualifying finals while Grayson is up against Australian Aaron Frankcomb.
