Coach Development Manager
SNZ is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Clarke as Coach Development Manager. The position, which is a shared role with Sport Bay of Plenty, commences immediately. Dave will already be familiar to many in the squash community from his previous coaching role with SNZ.
His objectives will be To develop more and better quality coaches throughout the country Gain greater recognition and value for the work done by the coaches Technical and tactical development Leadership and support for district coaches Provision of coaching resources The creation of this position has been generously supported by SPARC.
World Team Championships 2009
The Men's Team World Squash Championships are being held in Denmark from the 27th September to the 3rd October 2009. The event began in 1967 and 2009 marks the 22nd edition of the championships.
Egypt are the top seeds, followed by England, France and Australia who make up the top four seeds. New Zealand are seeded 10th and are in Pool G along with 7th seeded Canada and unseeded Spain. NZ's first game is against Spain on the 27th September. The event promises to be a great spectacle.
The New Zealand team, who is coached by Anthony Ricketts, consists of team members Kashif Shuja, Martin Knight, Campbell Grayson and Alex Grayson.
We wish the team luck and hope they have a successful tournament.
New Zealand Junior Nationals 2009
North Shore Squash Club are hosting the NZ Junior Nationals for 2009. The individuals are being held from the 1st 4th October followed by the teams event from the 4th 7th October.
With 250 entries this event promises to be a great spectacle and shows the depth throughout the junior ranks. All of NZ's top players will be battling it out to take out their respective age group titles so it will be an exciting week of squash.
Introducing new staff member Kate
Squash NZ is pleased to announce the arrival of new staff member Kate von Biel who has been appointed in the position of Programme Coordinator. Kate's role is to support the key programme areas of; Coach Development High Performance Events Referees Communication Kate will effectively be the SNZ webmaster from now on so any stories you would like to share should be sent to her in the first instance. She will also be collating and distributing general, high performance and coach development newsletters on a regular basis.
Kate recently graduated from Otago University with a double degree in Law and Commerce. While at Otago she was President of Otago University Squash Club, Squash NZ Club of the Year 2008. She grew up in the Waikato where she was part of the Waikato Squash Academy, she is currently graded B1 and represented Otago University at the B Grade Superchamps final in Taupo three weeks ago. Interim Management
As an interim measure the chair and the board of squash New Zealand will look after the day to day management of the national office. Each board member has accepted responsibility for a programme area and Jim O'Grady will spend some time in the office each week to support the work of the office staff.

CEO Position
Squash New Zealand is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated person for the critical role of Chief Executive. The main purpose of this position is to lead, direct and manage Squash New Zealand ensuring effectiveness, growth, performance and sporting credibility.
