The 10th seeded kiwis have edged to a 2-1 win over Kuwait in the playoffs for 9th-16th place. New Zealand was on the back foot early, with kiwi number one Kashif Shuja losing the opening match to Abdullah Almezayen in straight games, going down 11-3, 11-3, 11-8 in 24 minutes. However, Campbell Grayson got things back on track with an 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 win over Kuwait's number two player Salem Fayez Mohammed. Martin Knight then wrapped up the victory for New Zealand, bouncing back from a game down to beat Kuwait number three Bader Al Hussaini 6-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7.
