Grayson has missed out on a spot in the main draw, going down 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9 to England's Adrian Waller in the final round of qualifying. The loss comes just over a week after Grayson became New Zealand's top player in the world rankings, surpassing fellow Aucklander Kashif Shuja. Grayson reached a career high number 45 on the November list, while Shuja dropped 14 places to number 56. Martin Knight is now New Zealand's second highest ranked player at number 50 in the world.
