Shelley Kitchen remains New Zealand's top ranked player in the women's international squash rankings, despite being off the circuit with the birth of her first child just around the corner.
Kitchen, who has not played on the world circuit since announcing her pregnancy in August, will start the new year at number 16 in the world, down four places on the previous month.
Fellow kiwi Jaclyn Hawkes has held firm at number 17 on the January list, while Joelle King is also unchanged at number 31. Kylie Lindsay has slipped outside the top 50 for the first time since July, down two places to number 52.
Meanwhile, Martin Knight is still the best of the New Zealanders in the men's rankings, down two places to number 48 for the start of 2010. Campbell Grayson also remains in the top 50, down one spot to 49 while Kashif Shuja is on the improve, up two spots to number 52.
