Edward Dromgool and Paul Coll have both won their opening matches in the under 19 boys draw at the Tecnifibre British Junior Open in Sheffield. Edward upset India's Ramit Tandon, who was seeded to make the last 16, twice battling back from a game down to win 8-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10. He will face England's Robert Downer, a 17/32 seed, in the second round. Paul's passage into the second round was a lot easier. The 17/32 seed was too good for unseeded Czech Zbynek Standera, winning 11-7, 11-8, 11-6. Paul will take on 9/16 seeded Geoffrey Demont from France for a place in the last 16. Not such good news for fellow kiwis Jacob Turnbull and Andrew Ellis, who were both beaten in the opening round of the under 17 draw. Jacob went down 11-3, 11-6, 11-1 to 9/16 seeded Egyptian Islam Adel, while Andrew also lost in straight games to a 9/16 seed, going down 11-8, 11-8, 11-2 to Frenchman Alexandre Cogno.
