12/01/2010 - Judy Cooper, who stepped down as Squash New Zealand Masters Director at the end of 2009 was regonised at the Perry Foundation Waikato Regional Sports Awards.

I'm not sure if Judy was more delighted
with the medal for service to sport or the
fact that Oscar Kightley (the MC) had called
her Miss Universe. Either way, she was
delighted with the recognition for all the
work she has put into squash.
Five people received service to sport
awards - Renee Boyd (Netball), Marleen
Charng (Martial Arts), Judy Cooper
(Squash), Dave Maisey (Special Olympics/
Football), Dave Murray (Basketball).
The Perry Foundation Waikato Regional
Sports Awards are held annually to
acknowledge outstanding sportspeople
in the greater Waikato region. Finalists
were selected across 11 categories from
winners of eight district sports awards, held
throughout November and nominations for
outstanding Hamilton sportspeople.
