The 26 year-old from Malaysia, who commands billboard space in Kuala Lumpur such is her superstar status, now sits behind New Zealander Susan Devoy, who achieved 58 unbroken months at the top until 1993, after overtaking Australian Michelle Martin.

In 2010, the Penang-based player has added a further two titles to her formidable collection by winning both the Chennai Open in India and the CIMB KL Open on home soil in Malaysia. Her career haul reached 43 in the process and during her helm as world No 1, she has an 80 per cent success rate.
