Rising star Joelle King is a surprise semifinalist, after a 12/10, 11/5, 1/3 victory over fifth seeded Australian Donna Urquhart in the quarters. The 21-year-old will face English sixth seed Dominique Lloyd-Walter in the last four. However, fellow kiwi Jaclyn Hawkes has missed out on a place in the semis after a stunning fightback from Malaysian Low Wee Wern.
