New Zealand's Joelle King has reached the biggest final of her WISPA World Squash Tour career. The 21-year-old is through to the title decider at the $US 26,700 Women's Texas Open in Houston. King added England's Dominque Lloyd-Walter to the list of seeded players she has beaten on her way to the title decider, knocking over the sixth seed 11-1, 11-5, 7-11, 11-7 in the semifinals. The unseeded kiwi also accounted for English fourth seed Tania Bailey in the opening round, before upending fifth seeded Australian Donna Urquhart in the quarters. King now faces Australian Rachael Grinham in the final, after the top seed downed young Malaysian Low Wee Wern 12-10, 11-8, 11-7 in the semis. While it is a tall order for 23rd ranked King to continue her giant killing run against the world number five, she can take some heart from the fact that she beat Grinham the last time they met at the New Zealand Open last August. Joelle King's unexpected appearance in the Houston final will lead to her withdrawal from the qualifying competition for the Cayman Islands Open, the third WISPA Gold event of the year, which gets underway in Grand Cayman today.
