The frustration of indecisive refereeing

10/05/2010 - We can all relate to indecisive refereeing calls. In the middle of a tight tussle you call a let, only to have the referee dither about the call, say “let”, then “hang on...no a stroke” before consulting the marker to make the final call. Then, an argument usually erupts from your disgruntled opponent towards the referee and the game turns into a shambles!
Indecisiveness and inconsistency are rife in refereeing, however every referee makes mistakes, the important thing is to move on and focus on the next point, easier said than done sometimes!
