13/05/2010 - Club Manager Jacquie Sutherland reports on a very successful recent event held at the Hawkes Bay Squash Club.
Last weekend Hawke's Bay Squash Rackets Club were hosts for the annual G&H Training Pot – formerly the Lion Brown Pot – a team event open to any Hawkes Bay team consisting of one man and one lady from each grade from F up to A/B – so 10 players in all per team.

The event started on Friday night with the home team scraping through against HBLT on countback and Havelock North beating Surf City.
Saturday morning's matches again saw HBLT lose on a countback, so ending up in the wooden spoon play-off on Sunday morning.
Hastings comprehensively beat the home team and Sunday's final was to be between Hastings and the holders, Gisborne High School Old Boys with the home team and Surf City battling for 3rd and 4th.
Hastings were the overall victors thanks, effectively, to their ladies who won their match 4-1 with GHSOB beating Hastings men 3-2.
It was a great weekend and now over to either Hastings or Havelock North to host next year's event. The full results can be found on the following link:
