Top seeds on target to meet in final

21/05/2010 - Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight are on target to meet in the final of the Remuera/Auckland Open
New Zealand's top two men's squash players remain on target to meet in the final of the Remuera/Auckland Open.

Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight are both through to the semifinals, with neither having dropped a game in their opening two matches.

Grayson, the world number 39, downed fellow Aucklander Justin Sayes in straight games in his opening match, before repeating the dose against Waikato's Michael Martin in round three. Knight was similarly impressive in racking up 3-0 wins over Auckland's Joshua McHugh and Eastern's Bryce Redman in his first two matches.

Grayson will now face fourth seed Lance Beddoes in the semifinals. Beddoes will be counting his lucky stars to be in the last fur, after scraping past fellow Aucklander Gary Duberly 3-2, winning the deciding fifth game 12-10.

Knight will face Grayson's younger brother Alex on the other side of the draw. The third seed earned his spot in the semis with a 3-1 win over Central's Joseph Watts in the quarters.

Meanwhile, the final four quarterfinalists have been confirmed in the women's draw.

Auckland's Georgina Shelton-Agars has earned a showdown with top seed Joelle King after a 3-0 win over fellow Aucklander Elizabeth Graham in the opening round, while Holly Donnelly won 3-2 in an all Auckland affair against Sophie McClymont to set up a match with second seed Lana Harrison. Auckland's Jackie Laurenson and Rachel McLeod grabbed the other two places after winning by default..
