31/05/2010 - The Eastern Open was held at Hawkes Bay Squash Club over the weekend with both the Ladies and Men's A Grades coming down to a points countback to determine the winner. |

Jacquie Sutherland, Hawkes Bay Squash Club Manager gives the following report:
Both Ladies and Men's A Sections resulted countbacks to ascertain the winners. The Ladies' Section A was won by Aroha Campbell-Bryan of Squash Gym Palmerston North by virtue of the fact that she beat the runner-up, Sara Rangi from Wairoa. The Men's Section was a 3 way tie between Kent Darlington of Wanganui and the O'Shaughnessy brothers, Simon and Liam, of HBSRC. The overall winner was Simon as he won more games than the other two, with Kent runner-up.
We were really encouraged by the number of juniors playing throughout the age groups:
· Men's B Section: Special Plate Winner – Sam Nash (Squash Gym Palmerston) · Men's Section C: Winner - Ryan Joseph of Havelock North · Men's Section D: Winner - Torin Donnelly of Gisborne – Runner up – Josh Maconaghie (HBSRC) · Men's Section E: Winner - Mark Corkery of HBSRC – runner up - Willz Donnelly of Gisborne · Men's Section F : Winner - Ethan Johnston of HBLT – Runner up - Jack Newbery of Havelock North · Ladies' Section D: Runner up – Emily Nash (Squash Gym Palmerston) · Ladies' Section E: Winner – Ashley Harding (HBLT) · Ladies' Section F: Winner – Charlotte Lewis (HBLT) – runner up – Jamie van Asch (HBLT)
