Change of style for NZ team

20/08/2010 - New Zealand's top squash stars have to switch from doubles to singles mode for the national champs starting in Whakatane today
A quick switch back into singles mode for New Zealand's top squash players.

Six of the country's top stars have just returned from the invitational doubles event in Australia, and will line up in the New Zealand national championships in Whakatane.

It will be a good test of the versatility of Jaclyn Hawkes, Joelle King, Tamsyn Leevey, Kylie Lindsay, Campbell Grayson and Martin Knight, with the demands of the two games quite different.

Hawkes is the top seed in the women's event and is expected to meet King in the title decider on Sunday. However, both Leevey and Lindsay will have their eyes firmly on causing an upset come semifinals time on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Grayson and Knight are expected to fight it out for the men's title. The kiwi rivals are neck and neck in the world rankings, with Grayson currently at number 42 in the world, one ahead of Knight.

The national championships get underway at midday today.
