Evan Williams has caused a monumental upset in the semifinals of the NZ National Squash Championships in Whakatane. The 20-year-old Wellingtonian has bundled world number 43 Martin Knight out of the tournament, winning their semifinal 11-5,11-9, 4-11, 11-9. It is by far the biggest win of his career. Williams will now face top seed Campbell Grayson in the title decider. Grayson is through after an 11-6, 11-5,11-9 victory over younger brother Alex Grayson. In contrast, the women's event has gone exactly to plan. Top seed Jaclyn Hawkes remains on target to defend her title after a 13-11, 11-4, 11-6 semifinal victory over fourth seed Kylie Lindsay. Hawkes will face second seed Joelle King in the final. King advanced with a convincing 11-5, 11-2, 11-2 victory over third seed Tamsyn Leevey. Results... Men Quarterfinals 1.
