He downed England's Peter Gunter 11-4, 6-11, 11-4, 11-9 in the final. Duberly won the over 40 age group title at the previous event in Christchurch in two years ago. Fellow kiwi Barry Gardiner fell just short of a record equalling fourth title when he was beaten in the final of the over 70 age group. The 72-year-old went down 12-10, 11-2, 11-9 to Welshman Brian Phillips. Judith Casbolt was also beaten in the final of the women's over 40 event, while Kathryn Austin was third in the over 45s, Eliza MacDonald fourth in the over 65s and Trevor Coulter fourth in the men's over 75s. However, the biggest winner on the day was Australian Geoffrey Davenport. Unlike Gardiner, Davenport managed to win a fourth title, defending the over 50s title he won two years ago. He also won the over 45 title in 2003 and 2006. The only other player to win four World Masters titles is legendary Australian Heather McKay, who claimed the last of her titles in 1995. England was the most successful country at this year's Masters World Champs, picking up six titles, while Germany, South Africa, Australia and Ireland all claimed two. Results...
