Auckland's Alex Grayson has celebrated his late inclusion in the New Zealand team for the upcoming Junior Men's World Championships in style, reaching the final of the North Island Age Group Championships in Henderson.
Third seeded Grayson is through to the title decider in the under 19 boys draw, after beating second seed and world champs team mate Cameron Jamieson 3/0.
Grayson was only added to the team two days ago, after fellow Aucklander Lui Syder was forced out by injury.
The other semifinal featured the remainder of the New Zealand team, with top seed Evan Williams beating fourth seed Keegan Burkhart 3/0.
Williams and Grayson will square off at 3:40 this afternoon.
In the under 19 girls draw, the top two seeds will meet in the final, with title favourite Lana Harrison cruising into the last two with a 3/0 victory over fourth seed Nicola Blake. Second seed Amanda Landers-Murphy was similarly untroubled in a straight games win over American Kara Bloomgarden.
The final is at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
