13/07/08 Evan Williams and Lana Harrison have won the under 19 titles at the North Island Age Group Champs in Henderson |
Title favourites Evan Williams and Lana Harrison have been crowned champions at the North Island Junior Age Group Squash Championships in Henderson.
Williams has taken out the under 19 boys title, beating world championships team mate Alex Grayson in four. The top seed looked set for a straightforward victory after winning the first two games, but Grayson refused to lie down, winning the third 9/2 before Williams sealed victory 9/1 in the fourth.
Harrison was also pushed to four games in the under 19 girls final, dropping the first game 9/1 to second seed Amanda Landers-Murphy, before bouncing back to win 9/1 in the fourth.
Ten year Nicola Kennedy was mistakenly left off the list of winners from the South Island Junior Champs. Since the story, she has completed the under 11 double adding the North Island Title and will now look at the Nationals for a full set. Results
