The ninth seeded kiwis have been upset 2/1 by 12th seed USA, and will now take on eighth seeded Hong Kong in the playoff for 11th place. Keegan Burkhart got New Zealand off to a winning start, beating Alex Domenick 9/3 9/8 10/8. However, Evan Williams and Cameron Jamieson were both beaten in straight games, to hand the kiwis their second defeat of the knockout rounds.
