And the Festival begins....

08/08/2008 - The draw is now complete for the International Festival of Squash, which officially gets underway in Mount Maunganui this afternoon.
Jackie Laurenson, Amanda Cranston, Willie Bicknell and Chris Lloyd have earned the right to play on the all-glass court in the heart of the BayFair Shopping Centre, after winning through qualifying last night.

Lloyd will be the first of the qualifiers on court, taking on New Zealand number one Kashif Shuja at 3:30 this afternoon, while Bicknell is up against Malaysian world number 13 Mohd Azlan Iskander at 6:30pm.

Cranston's reward for qualifying is a crack at Irish world number 13 Madeline Perry while Laurenson has the unenviable task of trying to topple New Zealand's world number seven Shelley Kitchen.

Play gets underway at the BayFair Shopping Centre at 3pm, with Jaclyn Hawkes taking on fellow kiwi Kylie Lindsay.

Fans can get a glimpse of the action on BayFair's webcam at http://www.citynews.co.nz/webcams/bayfair.php
