11/08/2008 - The New Zealand team hasn't arrived home empty handed from the recent Junior Men's World Squash Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. |
Kiwi number three Alex Grayson has stepped off the plane with a trophy under his arm, after being named as the recipient of the fair play award. Grayson was announced as the winner at the presentation ceremony, following Pakistan's crowning as the 2008 World Champions. The Auckland teen was presented with his trophy by former world top 20 ranked Australian John Williams, who is now the Swiss National coach. Grayson says he is thrilled with being selected for the award, with more than 150 players were involved in the tournament. "The world championships were a fantastic experience with great people and awesome squash, and winning the fair play award is icing on the cake". Alex Grayson will now turn his attention to the New Zealand National Championships at Remuera in Auckland in two weeks and October's New Zealand Junior Nationals at SquashGym in Palmerston North.
