Kashif and Campbell make second round in Pakistan while Alex gives a good account of himself and Joelle is through to the last eight in Kuala Lumpur |
New Zealand's Kashif Shuja and Campbell Grayson are both safely through to the second round of the PSA World Squash Tour's Pakistan Open in Islamabad.
Fourth seeded Shuja has eased through his opening match against Pakistani qualifier Aqib Hanif in straight games, winning 11/9 11/6 11/7 in 29 minutes. Seventh seeded Grayson was even more convincing, disposing of Shahid Zaman 11/6 11/5 11/9 in just 21 minutes.
However, eighth seeded kiwi Martin Knight has bowed out of the tournament, losing his opening round clash against Waqar Mehboob 11/9 11/7 5/11 11/7.
Meanwhile, Alex Grayson, the younger brother of Campbell, has made a main draw appearance at a tour event in Kuala Lumpur.
The 18-year-old kiwi successfully navigated his way through qualifying, before coming up against top seed Mike Corren from Australia in the opening round. Grayson gave a good account of himself against Corren, but was eventually beaten 11/6 13/11 11/3.
Meanwhile, in the women's draw, Joelle King (seeded 4) had a win over Malaysia's Low Wee Nee 11/7 6/11 11/4 11/7.
She now plays 6th seed Low Wee Wern, also from Malaysia in the quarterfinals.
