Point a Rally Scoring in NZ

After much deliberation, the Squash New Zealand board has made a decision on the use of point a rally for elite juniors and above
A paper from a working group was received, which considered the implications of PAR scoring on junior elite athletes and beyond.

A rationale was established based on the premise that the priority for adoption was high performance focussed and that adoption should be prioritised at a level of U19 and above, and B1 and above;

1.NZ Junior Open
a)Top draw (boys and girls) PAR to 11
b)Draws below at SNZ discretion based on draw strength (and rationale)
c)All other draws PAR to 15

2. NZ, North Island and South Island Junior Championships
a)U19 PAR to 11
b)U17 at SNZ discretion based on draw strength (and rationale)
c)All other draws PAR to 15

SNZ recommends that local tournaments align with Squash NZ based on the same rationale. E.g. Top Draws PAR to 11 but be realistic, based on strength of the draw when deciding whether to apply PAR to 15 or not.

3. The SNZ Board confirmed their earlier decision that Masters and Graded Championships would remain traditional scoring for 2009 and reviewed, as they were considered to be participation tournaments/ events.
