15/08/2009 As round two and three have finished for the girls, Palmerston North Girls High team prevail over third seed Epsom Girls Grammar with a 3/2 win and just narrowing losing to Te Puke High School today in the semi finals, putting them now in the position to play off for 3rd and 4th. The finals will be as seeded Waikato Diocesan Schools for Girls against Te Puke High School. |
It hasn't been a great day for the two Palmerston North based schools with Boys joining sister school Girls High in going down in a tight semi final to Auckland Grammar 3 - 1 this afternoon. After being down 2 matches, Tom Nash got Palmy back in it with a three straight victory over the Grammar number one. It was then up to Regan Smith to keep the tie alive and send it to a deciding 5th match. After leading 2 - 1, he could not keep the momentum going and lost in five. In front of a big crowd at SquashGym all the Boys High team played out of their skin, but it was not enough to upset the second seeds.
Auckland Grammar now move onto play Christchurch Boys High in tomorrows final, with Palmy Boys playing off against Whangarei Boys High for 3rd. Both matches get underway at SquashGym from 11.00am.
