AD Long Cup Draws 16 Teams To Northland

The AD Long Masters Club Team Championships has drawn 16 teams to the Kamo Rugby and Squash Club to compete this weekend to take out this title.

The North Shore Squash Club will be the top seeds in the event and should everything go to seeding they will face fellow Auckland team Papakura 1 in the final. Kamo 1 will be looking to make their way to the final with home court advantage and a seeding of 3 in the event. 2016 winners Silverdale will be looking to retain their title but will have a tough challenge in fourth seeding and having to potentially face the top seeds North Shore in the semi-finals.

In the Second division it is the local Mid-Western team who will be seeking to take top honors in their division claiming the top spot in their draw. All going to plan they will face fellow Northland team Mangakahia in the final where there will be sure to be some strong local rivalry between the players. Manurewa take third position in division 2 whilst Whangarei 3 round out the top 4 in division 2.

The Kamo Rugby and Sq uash club last held a national event in 1994 when they held the Masters Nationals so they will be sure to put on a top event. The AD Long Cup has been played for by club teams since 1999. Teams are made up of four players (male and/or female) of any grade who are all members of the same club, and part of the masters age group (35+) as at the first day of the event. Clubs play ties against each other in round-robin and / or knockout format to decide the winner.
