Players who have qualified through their district qualifying stages are heading to Ohakune at the centre of the North Island this weekend to contest the 2017 Champion of Champions national trophies for their respective grades.
Participants have entered from eight districts including Northland, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Eastern and Central from the North Island and Southland and Canterbury from the South Island.
Grades F/J through to A Grade are all being contested. A District trophy is also being contested for the first time this year. Leading contenders at this stage are Northland, Auckland, Eastern and Central who all have at least ten of the twelve divisions covered. Their players will need to perform, however, with only some points based on participation, extra points are awarded for each individual match won and bonus points for each actual national title.
