Megan Craig a devil to beat in Tasmania

New Zealand's Megan Craig has turned giant killer at the Tasmanian Open in Hobart.

Sixth seeded Megan Craig is through to the final of the Tasmanian Open, after a surprise win over second seed Sarah Cardwell from Australia.  The 19-year-old Kiwi upstaged the world number 57 with a convincing 11-5, 11-7, 11-9 victory in just over half an hour.

Craig, ranked 71 in the world, has been a fast improver on the rankings list in recent months and can look forward to another climb on the August list after also beating third seeded Brazilian Thaisa Serafini 12-10, 11-7, 11-3 in the semi-finals.  She will meet Welsh fourth seed Deon Saffery in the title decider.

Meanwhile, fellow Kiwi Paul Coll has missed out on a spot in the men's semi-finals.  Coll was beaten 11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-4 by second seeded Austrian Aqeel Rehman in the quarters.
